Communication Plan

This document is the collaborative effort of the School Improvement Council, Parent Teacher Organization, School Leadership Team, and the Red Carpet Committee based on input from students, parents, teachers, paraeducators, and community members. The Northside Elementary School family strives to build and nurture positive, personal relationships with all our stakeholders.

Effective communication is essential in maintaining and enriching the positive working relationships between the faculty/staff, parents, students, and community members of Northside Elementary School. Northside Elementary School’s written communication plan clarifies and supports the school’s mission, beliefs, and priorities. Also, it is used to effectively monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of Northside Elementary School’s communication measures, improve outreach opportunities in the school community, and broaden the school’s support base in promoting, "Every child, Every day." The written communication plan of Northside Elementary School serves as a synopsis of the school’s efforts in promoting healthy school/home/community relations and provides feedback to the stakeholders about the effectiveness of our programs and solicits feedback for improvement.

Evidence of Need

Based on the school report card survey, school communication survey, and school improvement survey, areas of need include: parents satisfied with home school relations with a score of 94.6% an increase of 19% and comments from the communication survey requesting additional information on school events.

Northside Elementary School’s Communication Plan:

 ☺     is reviewed annually by the faculty and staff members, School Improvement Council members, School Leadership Team Red Carpet Committee, and Parent Teacher Organization board members,  

correlates with the district’s goal of increasing community collaboration,  

supports the mission statement that promotes “Every child, Every day” and  

promotes community and parental involvement goals outlined in the school’s strategic plan.

Execution and Communication

Northside Elementary School’s Communication Plan:

  lists and defines objectives and strategies for successful implementation, and  

is communicated by members of the School Leadership Team through informal and formal meetings, is available in the school office in print form, and is posted on the school web site.

Evaluation

Northside Elementary School’s Communication Plan is evaluated in the following ways:  

annual review by the faculty and staff members, School Improvement Council members, School Leadership Team, Red Carpet Committee, and Parent Teacher Organization board members,  

surveys on the level of service provided at the school are distributed for stakeholders to complete,

improvement suggestions are solicited from the stakeholders, and  

sign in logs are maintained at school functions and events.

The School Improvement Council/Title I/School-wide Planning Team meets monthly during the school year. The members assist the principal in writing the school improvement plan, monitor and evaluate the plan’s goals, and report school progress in the annual school report card.

The Parent Teacher Organization meets every other month during the school year. It offers opportunities for involvement of all stakeholders. Grade level musical presentations are held on PTO nights with an average attendance of 300 parents and community members. Communication regarding PTO sponsored events and activities are sent home with students and provided to parents digitally.
